    Joe is the Divisional Manager with responsibility for High Potential Start Up companies. Joe joined Enterprise Ireland in 1997.  During his time with Enterprise Ireland he has worked in a number of senior roles. He was appointed Secretary to the board from 2013 to 2017.  During this period, he was the Manager in charge of Corporate Governance, Policy, Planning and Government Relations. Prior to that, Joe was the Manager of the Equity and Legal Department in the Investment Services Division from 2011 to 2013 and the Manager of the Dairy, Beverages, Food Technology and Foreign Direct Investment Departments with the Food Division from 2007 to 2011.  During this time, Joe was also the Manager of the Employment Subsidy Scheme and responsible for implementation National support scheme to support employment in all Irish industry on behalf of DJEI for a one-off measure in response to crisis in 2009. Joe was awarded a PhD in Materials Science from the University of Birmingham and holds a Masters Degree in Technology Management from the National Institute of Technology Management, UCD.  More recently, in 2015 he was awarded a Diploma in Company Direction by the Institute of Directors.

    Synopsis:
    Fraud continues to be a major issue in the motor insurance sector.  According to figures released by the Motor Insurers’ Bureau of Ireland (MIBI), as many as 1 in 8 of the claims they receive is suspicious.  In this presentation, David Fitzgerald, Chief Executive of the MIBI will provide further details of just how serious an issue this is for the wider public and why we should all be concerned.  He will also outline some of the scams used by fraudsters and describe the concrete measures being taken by the MIBI to fight back against fraud.
